How to Fix iTunes Cannot Detect iPhone Problem

Some iPhone users may have met the problem of "iTunes cannot detect iPhone device", then how to fix the problem? As there are many reasons to cause iTunes cannot detect iPhone normally, such as the USB cable of iPhone or computer is damaged, USB drive is not installed correctly or some other hardware problems. Here we will discuss the occasion when iTunes cannot detect iPhone by itself, you could learn from the solutions as below for reference.

• Occasion One: After connected to computer, iPhone can be detected by iTunes, but you can not sync iPhone applications.
• Occasion Two: Appandora can detect your iPhone, even detect two iPhones, but iTunes cannot.
• Occasion Three: Appandora can detect your iPhone normally, but iTunes cannot detect iPhone at all.
• Occasion Four: iPhone cannot be detected due to flash the iPhone.
• Occasion Five: Your computer cannot detect your iPhone, but other computer can detect your device normally.
• Occasion Six: For Windows 7, iTunes couldn't detect iPhone.

Occasion One: After connected to computer, iPhone can be detected by iTunes, but you can not sync iPhone applications.

Reason:

iPhone has set the the restrictions for applications

Solution:

Settings>General>Restrictions>Disable Restrictions

Occasion Two: Appandora can detect your iPhone, even detect two iPhones, but iTunes cannot.

Reason:

iPhone has installed some tools from Cylia

Solution:

Uninstall the tools from Cylia

Note: If you are not familiar with the tools from Cylia, you'd better not to install them.

Occasion Three: Appandora can detect your iPhone normally, but iTunes cannot detect iPhone at all.

Reason:

Have no idea yet.

Solution:

Clear the temp files.

In Windows XP: Delete all the files from path: C:\Documents and Settings\Username \Local Settings\Temp. If some files cannot be deleted, skip them and restart iTunes.

In Windows 7&Vista: Delete all the files from path: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp and restart iTunes.

Occasion Four: iPhone cannot be detected due to flash the iPhone.

Solution:

Delete the file folders under the path: /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control and restart iTunes.

Occasion Five: Your computer cannot detect your iPhone, but other computer can detect your device normally.

Solution:

Uninstall all the files with Apple Inc.(iTunes, quicktime, apple application support, apple mobile device support, apple software update and bonjour) and reinstall iTunes.

Occasion Six: For Windows 7, iTunes couldn't detect iPhone.

Solution:

Step 1.Open C:\windows and search USBAAPL.SYS file.

Step 2.Right click the file and choose "Open File Location", then copy all the files to a new file folder.

Step 3.Open Device Manager, find out Apple iPhone from Portable devices, and right click to choose Update Driver Software.

Step 4.Browse the new file folder which is created in step 2 and update the drive automatically.

Step 5.Open iTunes and wait for a while, then you will see iPhone from the left list.

Note: Please make sure iPhone is connected to computer when trying above steps.

Solution:

Step 1.Quit iTunes and disconnect iPhone to computer.

Step 2.Uninstall iTunes. (Learn how to uninstall iTunes completely)

Step 3.Check 【C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple】file folder. If the file folder exists, delete it.

Step 4.Check 【C:\Username\User\AppData\Local\Apple and Apple Computer】and 【C:\Username\User\AppData\LocalLow\Apple and Apple Computer】file folder. If the file folders exist, delete them.

Step 5.Check 【C:\Username\User\My Music\iTunes】file folder. If the file folder exists, delete it.

Step 6.Restart your computer after above steps, launch iTunes set up file to reinstall.

Step 7.Launch iTunes and connect iPhone to your computer via USB cable.

Step 8.See if iTunes could detect your iPhone normally or not. All done.

Solution:

Step 1.Right click My Computer>Properties>Device Manager.

Step 2.Right click Apple Mobile Device USB Drive>Update Driver Software, then browse the path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers\ to make sure the software is updated.

Step 3.Restart computer and connect iPhone to your computer via USB cable, then open iTunes to see if iPhone is detected or not.
